The Free Media Center for Investigative Journalism has published a groundbreaking report titled “The Black Market Killers”, uncovering the circumstances surrounding the assassination of Yemeni investigative journalist Mohammed Abdo Al-Absi. The report details how Al-Absi, known for exposing corruption in Yemen’s oil sector, was poisoned in December 2016 after uncovering sensitive information implicating powerful figures.

The investigation highlights Al-Absi’s final months, the threats he faced, and the manipulation of legal proceedings to obscure the truth. It also provides key recommendations, calling for an international inquiry into his assassination and stronger measures to protect journalists in Yemen.

Read the full report for an in-depth look at the fight for truth and accountability in one of the world’s most dangerous environments for journalists.
