The Path Towards Peace” is an in-depth field study conducted under the Supporting Peace in Yemen through Accountability, Reconciliation, and Knowledge Sharing (SPARK) project, supported by DT Institute and implemented by SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties (SAM) and the Abducteesâ Mothers Association (AMA). The study examines local perspectives on transitional justice and national reconciliation as essential pillars for sustainable peace in Yemen. Carried out across six governoratesâSana’a, Aden, Taiz, Al-Hudaydah, Marib, and Hadramoutâthe research engaged over 330 participants, including victims of violations, displaced persons, marginalized communities, civil society actors, and transitional justice experts. The findings highlight widespread human rights abuses, strong demands for both accountability and reconciliation, and an urgent call for the inclusion of women, displaced populations, and the marginalized (al-Muhamasheen) in peace processes. Despite ongoing conflict and institutional fragility, the study underscores the vital role of civil society in documenting violations, supporting victims, and promoting a rights-based transitional justice approach. It offers practical recommendations for embedding transitional justice principles into future peace agreements and national recovery efforts, ensuring a victim-centered and locally driven path towards lasting peace in Yemen.
