Joint Statement on Universal Children’s Day: Protect Yemen’s Children

On Universal Children’s Day, nineteen Yemeni civil society organizations, including members of the Justice for Yemen Pact, call for urgent action to end the grave violations committed against children across Yemen. With 9.8 million children expected to need humanitarian assistance in 2025, and more than 11,000 children killed or injured since 2015, the situation remains one of the world’s most severe child protection crises.

The statement highlights the continued recruitment of children, attacks on schools, denial of aid, and alarming levels of malnutrition. Rasd Coalition documented 845 grave violations during 2023–2025 and over 7,490 cases of child recruitment since 2015—evidence of the persistent risks children face.

The organizations urge all parties to halt violations immediately, ensure safe humanitarian access, strengthen child justice mechanisms, and prioritize education and protection services. They reaffirm that ending the conflict, ensuring accountability, and restoring essential child protection systems are critical to securing a safe and dignified future for Yemen’s children.
