The SPARK project has officially launched its first activity, spearheaded by the J4YP coalition partners, SAM for Right & Liberates and Abductees Mother Association. This initiative aims to assess the Yemeni perspective on transitional justice and to evaluate the capacity of civil society to implement transitional justice activities effectively.
SPARK partners are currently engaged in data collection across six governorates, including areas affected by ongoing conflicts. A total of 300 participants are contributing to this effort through Key Informant Interviews (KII) and focus groups.
The assessment encompasses various target groups that reflect the diverse Yemeni community, including representatives from different political parties, civil society organizations, and community influencers. Special attention is given to elevating the voices of vulnerable populations severely impacted by the conflict, such as victims, marginalized groups, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). Importantly, women’s perspectives are prioritized, with average 42% of the targeted participants being women.
The findings from this assessment will culminate in a report published early next year, with results shared publicly and distributed to relevant stakeholders.
