Yemeni Women: Leading the Path to Peace

Despite Yemen’s ongoing conflict, courageous women have emerged as key drivers of peace, justice, and social change. Amat Al-Salam Al-Hajj and Dr. Abha Ba’awidhan, prominent members of the Justice4Yemen Pact Coalition, lead efforts in human rights advocacy and conflict resolution. Amat, through the Abductees’ Mothers Association, fights for detainees and victims of enforced disappearance, while Dr. Abha spearheads humanitarian and peace initiatives, empowering women in the process. Alongside them, leaders like Eshraq Al-Maqtari, Muna Luqman, and Maeen Al-Obaidi continue to shape Yemen’s future through legal reform, mediation, and humanitarian action.

The Abductees’ Mothers Association, a member of Justice4Yemen Pact Coalition, documents their powerful stories, showcasing their resilience and diverse contributions—from legal defense and community mediation to transitional justice and human rights advocacy—proving that lasting peace is impossible without women’s leadership.
