On International Women’s Day, the Justice4Yemen Pact Coalition highlights the ongoing struggles of Yemeni women, who face systemic marginalization, gender-based violence, and severe restrictions on their freedoms amid conflict and climate crises. Over 180 violations against women human rights defenders have been documented, including arbitrary detentions and harassment, while restrictive policies like the Houthi-imposed Mahram requirement further limit their mobility and participation. The coalition calls for urgent action to ensure women’s representation in peace processes, strengthen protections against gender-based violence, support economic empowerment, integrate gender-sensitive policies, and safeguard women human rights defenders. Justice and equality for Yemeni women cannot wait.
