Statement on the Human Rights Situation in Yemen

On Human Rights Day, this statement from over twenty NGOs including Justice4Yemen Pact Coalition highlights the catastrophic human rights crisis in Yemen. A decade of conflict has caused the appalling loss of over 377,000 lives, including thousands of children, and displaced over 4.56 million people. Despite reduced fighting, human rights abuses persist, including arbitrary detention, suppression of freedoms, and attacks on civilians and journalists. This is compounded by a severe humanitarian crisis affecting most of the population, leaving millions without access to basic needs and education. The lack of accountability and justice fuels a cycle of impunity, obstructing lasting peace.

This statement demands an immediate end to hostilities, the swift commencement of inclusive peace negotiations representing all Yemeni communities, and the urgent establishment of a fully empowered National Human Rights Commission to secure justice and protect the human rights of all Yemenis.
