On December 29, 2024, the INSAF Center for Rights and Development, a partner of the SAFE project, hosted a strategic dialogue that emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination among stakeholders and decision-makers in the protection and promotion of children’s rights in Aden, particularly for marginalized groups such as Muhamasheen and internally displaced children (IDP). This meeting aimed to address the severe violations these vulnerable children face, promote community engagement, and establish effective partnership mechanisms for child protection.
The dialogue resulted in the formation of a unified committee composed of representatives from governmental institutions, civil society organizations, and key stakeholders, all tasked with driving actionable solutions forward. Notable outcomes included the establishment of a dedicated child protection unit, the initiation of regular monitoring meetings, and the development of a comprehensive plan for 2025. Recommendations underscored the necessity of continuous training on legal frameworks concerning children’s rights, raising awareness of the six grave violations against children, and fostering partnerships with international civil society organizations to bolster government efforts. Additionally, the dialogue highlighted the need for specialized units to provide psychological support and comprehensive care for children, ensuring that all children, including marginalized ones, receive the long-term protection they deserve.
This dialogue emphasized the critical need for collaborative efforts, driven by the joint commitment of the SAFE project, to create a safe, inclusive, and protective environment for all children, especially those who are most vulnerable.
