The Justice4Yemen Pact Coalition, warns that child recruitment in Yemen remains systematic and ongoing, not isolated incidents. Field investigations documented 11,310 recruited children across 19 governorates (2014–Feb 2023), many under the age of 15. The majority come from economically vulnerable families. International monitoring bodies, including Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict and the United Nations, continue to verify cases annually, confirming the persistence of the practice despite shifts in conflict dynamics. Reports also identify structured recruitment channels, including militarized “summer camps” and training sites. In 2025 alone, the Civilian Impact Monitoring Project recorded 361 child casualties, underscoring the broader environment of grave violations.
Key Calls
- Immediate and unconditional end to child recruitment and use
- Release and rehabilitation of all recruited children
- Independent investigations and accountability for recruitment networks
- Increased international pressure and funding for child protection and reintegration programs
