Launch of SAFE II Program: Protecting Yemeni Children’s Rights Amid Conflict

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Supporting Awareness, Facilitating Enforcement of Children’s Rights in the Yemeni Conflict, Part II (SAFE II) Program. Building on the success of the first phase, this initiative aims to further protect Yemeni children from grave human rights violations (HRVs) during the ongoing armed conflict by enhancing their recognition and ensuring accountability for perpetrators. Over the next 18 months, SAFE II will focus on three key objectives: conducting community and victim-oriented civic education campaigns to empower safe reporting of HRVs; meticulously documenting and investigating reported HRVs to provide reliable evidence for international justice dialogues; and facilitating discussions among Yemeni justice sector actors to promote protective measures for children.

SAFE II is dedicated to amplifying the voices of victims, survivors, and their families, which have often been marginalized. We are proud to partner again with the Yemeni Coalition to Monitor Human Rights Violations (YCMHRV), leveraging their established credibility and relationships to implement community education initiatives, conduct thorough investigations, and pursue advocacy actions for Yemeni children.

Additionally, we welcome INSAF for Rights and Development as a new local partner. Founded in Aden in 2019, INSAF focuses on documenting human rights violations and fostering a culture of rights in Yemen. INSAF will utilize their community trust and connections to lead education efforts, conduct field investigations, and engage in advocacy actions on behalf of Yemeni children.

Through these strategic partnerships, SAFE II aims to elevate the dialogue on children’s rights in Yemen and work collaboratively towards a brighter and more equitable future for all Yemeni children.
